Bar Convivium Portland, OR
I wasn't sure what I thought of this place the first night I went, which I imagine is why I had to return there two consecutive nights in a row following my first experience. First of all, well drinks for only $3.00 during happy hour? $3.00 for a veggie dog with sauerkraut and chips and salsa?? What is the catch here??
Another problem with this place is that it is fun. Board games lie atop each table. So you can drink AND play your favorite board game simultaneously. What do they think they're trying to pull?!
The worst part is that the servers are friendly and accommodating.
I hope that after enjoying, er, I mean, tolerating three dreadful nights in a row at this bar, my opinion of it is clear.

Maiden, The Portland, OR
I had the pleasure of going to Maiden in the Mist this past week. I found my olive, feta, and pita plate to contain olives, feta, and pita bread, as well as a plate, just as advertised. And my mirror pond pale ale was, just as ordered, a mirror pond pale ale. Our server was pleasant, very helpful, and checked in periodically to ensure we were enjoying our food.
My main concern is that, throughout the duration of my dining experience, I saw neither a maiden, nor a mist. Not even a slight sprinkle. I stayed dry the entire time. I even excused myself to go to the bathroom at one point, thinking perhaps the mist was in there, but there was no mist to be found.
Except for this minor oversight on the part of the restaurant, I would rate my experience positively and perhaps go there again to renew my search for a maiden and a mist.
