Eddie George’s Grille 27 Columbus, OH
Went to Eddie George's last night before a concert at the Newport to try out the happy hour. This proved to be one of the best happy hours I have been to in Columbus. The pure amount of specials was amazing. You can't beat a 20 ounce Blue moon for $2!! For 3 big appetizers, 3 martinis, and two 20 oz Blue Moons I paid $33.....hard to beat.

Winking Lizard Tavern Columbus, OH
Went here many times after softball games. The beer menu is so large it leaves you overwhelmed...usually you just throw out a random number and go with it. I'm not a fan of the pseudo Bethel bar district, but if you are in the area this is the place to go. Get a card and start up the tour. Get through them all and you get a winking lizard jacket.

Tip Top Columbus, OH
Went there on Saturday for the first time and am hoping to go many more times. The place has a great cozy feel to it, and for only being a few months old they've done an amazing job of making it feel worn in. The menu and beer selection is creative and on locally grown produce and Ohio brewers. If you go try out the sweet potato fries. The $1 PBR for happy hour is a steal too.

Bodega Columbus, OH
Nice selection of beers and wines for happy hour make it worth the going to. Has a little bit different feel than other Short North bars..but it is hard to describe how exactly. As far as happy hours go though, I think this is one of the best around as far as variety and price go.

Barley’s Brewing Company Columbus, OH
The bar section of Barley's (most of the place is a restaurant) always seems to be hopping, but I wouldn't exactly call it a place to go if you are looking for fun. Most of the people just seem like they are waiting it out until they can get seated to eat. The homebrew is good though, and they change it up a lot. I wish the happy hour prices were better. If you ever get a chance to go to an private event in the basement, make sure and go..it is one of the stranger (and creepier) downtown venues.

Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Columbus, OH
Gordon Biersch has an interesting selection of beer made on site, and above average food overall, but is not much of a bar scene. It is a suitable place to go for a business lunch, dinner with the significant other, or a quick business happy hour..but not worth the effort if you are looking for a night out. The bar area feels hollow and empty every time I've been in there.

Novak’s Columbus, OH
Just went there last night and had a pretty good time. Nice place for the 25 to 30 crowd. There aren't quite as many college kids running around like some of the other spots in the area. The porch is fantastic in the summer, over looking the North Market. This place is maybe a 3 star in winter and a 5 star if you can snag a spot on the crowded porch in summer. Oh yeah, and their happy hour specials are pretty good.

Little Palace Columbus, OH
This place is really unique downtown. Where 90% of the bars have got caught up in the gentrification of downtown, Little Palace still sticks to its roots. A combo bar and diner, I've never had the food but could assume it is your typical greasy diner eats. Went here for a scooter festival event, so probably not a good sampling, but the place is unique and worth a visit. Not a place for the timid, I saw no high heels or popped collars here.

O’Shaughnessy’s Public House Columbus, OH
One thing that is tough about pubs is that it takes a little age before they feel authentic. O'Shaughnessy's hasn't been open in the Arena District for too long, but enough to show they have staying power. The place can get overly crowded before or after Arena events. My friends swear by their fish sandwich. Drinks aren't a great deal, but if you are looking for an irish pub in the arena district, this is pretty much your only choice.

Elevator, The Columbus, OH
Working downtown, I'm at the Elevator over and over again for business lunches. Food is good, though their fountain pop is strangely nasty. The variety of Elevator brand brews make for a unique experience. Make sure to try them out. Would highly recommend trying out this place for a bite and taking advantage of the discounted happy hour homebrews.

Flatiron Bar & Diner Columbus, OH
This place is worth a visit simply for the sweet and hot fries. Sweetness..hotness.. and cheesiness all rolled into one. That's a tough one to beat. The place is very narrow and cozy (the name is actually taken from the similarly shaped New York landmark). Great place for food, drinks are fairly priced during happy hour. Hit it up before 7 and you can get some great barbecue with your discounted drinks.

Lodge Bar, The Columbus, OH
I'd love to say I hate this place...but somehow I don't. It must reckon me back to my days of drunken good times in my college days in Montana. If you are looking to drink lots, dance around, and sing along to covers this is the place to go downtown. Drink and enjoy!!
03-Jan-08
Frog, Bear & Wild Boar Columbus, OH
Packed full of the afterwork and "pre-Nationwide Arena" crowd, this place is consistently buzzing during happy hour. Personally I find the place too big and hollow, and I'm not a big fan of the mostly suburban crowd. Its prime location makes it a frequent stop if you work or play in downtown as I do.
03-Jan-08
Marshall’s Restaurant and Bar Columbus, OH
I live right near this place and it seems to be one of the most consistently busy places for happy hour around, particularly during the summer with the big porch. The downside is that the music is often overwhelming and the bar itself interior of the place isn't anything special. The deal on booze are great though....warning though, things aren't nearly as cheap after the happy hour is over...a little bait and switch.
03-Jan-08
Spagio Columbus, OH
One of the great local places in Grandview. The atmosphere in Spagio's is warm and inviting. Always is fun to run around and search through the bottled beers and wines that you can just pull off the shelf and open. Wish they had a better happy hour on the alcohol side, but still worth a visit for the overall experience.
03-Jan-08
Cap City Fine Diner and Bar Columbus, OH
Hit up the Cap City happy hour while we were waiting for a seat there the other night. Cap City has some great food (though there menu change hurt more than helped) but the prices at happy hour are nothing special. They used to offer some appetizer specials, but now I think it is purely drinks. I'd suggest it as a great place to eat...but way too crowded and overpriced to go there to drink.
03-Jan-08
Thirsty Ear, The Columbus, OH
Went here for the first time last Friday since it was near home. The band was warming up for the whole hour we were there. It was like ear torcher. The guy beat on the bass drum for literally 10 minutes straight. Don't know what it would be like on a normal day, but I don't think we'll be back any time soon.
12-Nov-07
McFadden’s Saloon Columbus, OH
Went here for a company hour, last week. We sat out on the patio which was pretty crowded. The location is nice, being right in the middle of the new South Gateway complex. Crowd was a mix of college kids and young professionals. Pretty good happy hour if you can get some porch space.
19-Sep-07
King Avenue 5 Columbus, OH
King Ave 5 is a nice new place in the Grandview Area. It is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. The happy hour special isn't as good as some other places, but the bar shuffleboard still makes it worth hitting up. Bar shuffleboard rules!!
10-Aug-07
Byrne’s Pub Columbus, OH
Byrne's is one of the best patios in town. Always an interesting mix of people and a strange variety of cars and scooters rolling by all the time. The prices could be a little better, but the happy hour(expecially Friday Bluegrass) is worth a couple extra bucks.
05-Jul-07
E.J.’s Canyon Cafe Columbus, OH
We hit up EJ's the night of Red, White, and Boom for drinks and some appetizers. The food was an improvement over Gibby's (which used to be there) and the drink specials were hard to beat. 2 full meals and three drinks a piece came in at under $25. Only downside was that the crowd is a little older and slower than some other bars in Grandview.
05-Jul-07
Park Street Tavern Columbus, OH
This has been one of my favorite places in Columbus for a long time. It was even better when it was 501 and didn't have the TVs and Buckeye gear scattered around, but it is still one of the best places in town to watch live music, especially jazz.
