Kelly's Olympian Club Portland, OR
Good pub-grub and a decent tap selection. Vintage motorcycle theme is cool (if a bit contrived).

Tennessee Red's BBQ Portland, OR
BBQ is good but not fantastic. Beer selection was okay (3 micros). Service was pretty good. If you want BBQ and are in the neighborhood it'll do the job, but there's probably something better if you're willing to travel a bit.

Portland Brewing Company Portland, OR
The Pyramid buyout ruined the Portland Brewing Company. Food was okay, beer is L-A-M-E (by Portland standards).

Alameda Brewhouse Portland, OR
The Black Bear XX stout on nitro is life-changingly good. Yum.

American Cowgirls Bar And Grill Portland, OR
I'm not sure how I let my cousin talk me into going here on St. Patrick's Day. This place is shallow and cultureless. The only redeaming thing was that they had a good New Belgium seasonal on tap, but I had to wade through rows of uncomfortable, over-made-up people to get it. How is this place in Portland?

Roots Organic Brewing Portland, OR
Roots has some great organic beers and a couple amazing beers (the IPA especially), all of which are quite strong (I don't recommend ending your night here or you will have a tough time finding your way home). If you consider yourself a beer connoisseur, you must visit Roots. Also, the atmosphere is nice and laid back, often accented by Reggae.

Amnesia Brewing Portland, OR
Their beers are pretty good. They claim to have the two best IPAs around -- I think that is a bit of a stretch. The ESB is my favorite. Nice people and outdoor seating (covered and heated). The menu is a bit limited, with just sausages and burgers (veggie options are veggie sausages and garden burgers). But, if you like sausages they do have some good ones. Sometimes they have live music too.

Rogue Portland, OR
Sure, it is can be expensive and the service is poor, but you simply can't get some of these beers unless you drive to Newport (and who wants to do that?). The Mocha Porter on tap is life-changing (as are about a dozen other Rogue beers).

Berbati's Portland, OR
Overall, a great happy hour. The free pool is probably the best part, but the cheap beers and food are nice too. The falafel wasn't too great, but the other food was good. Unlike the last reviewer, I didn't find anything magical about the newcastle tap - same old newcastle IMHO, but I do appreciate the Lagunitas tap. I went on sunday, and the place was almost empty which was nice.

Uptown Billiards Club Portland, OR
Gorgeous tables and interior. Tends to have a masogonistic atmosphere. At $10 per hour table fees, the audience is more "minnisota fats" than "fast eddie".

Shanghai Tunnel Portland, OR
Historical tribute is cool, but the beer selection is composed intirely of lame imports and terrible domestics (think: coors or stella. ugh). I take issue with any bar in Portland that doesn't serve local microbrews. Your bar is in the city with the highest number of breweries per capita in the world! Show a little respect.

Rialto Portland, OR
Good food. The onion rings (beer battered with hefeweisen) are awesome. The beer selection is good and is served in icy pints. The tables are nice, but table fees are a bit high. The recent remodel made the dirty-old-rialto into an upscale joint, and while I appreciate the new felt, I don't appreciate the higher prices.

Melting Pot Portland, OR
Tends to be quite expensive. Extensive wine list, but the beer list is depressingly short and is served in silly fluted 10-ounce glasses. Swiss fondue without a big stein of beer? I'll stick with Gustav's, thanks. If you're looking for desert or dinner fondues, however, you would have a tough time finding another place that fits the bill.

Montage Portland, OR
A late-night portland landmark with great cajun/creole-ish food. After many years of being cash-only, they now accecpt credit cards, which is awesome. It is almost always very loud, so don't expect to have any complex conversations. I only wish they would get some good micros - as it is, they best beer they have is Rainier in a bottle!

BridgePort Ale House Portland, OR
Kind of a cold, sterile, and uninviting environment, but the selection of cask conditioned ales is hard to find elsewhere.

Sweet Basil Portland, OR
Surprising. Drawn in by the sumptuous list of happy-hour eats, I was surprised by this sleek and 'hip' bar underneath the thai restaurant. They have board games to play, a couple tap beers (they are getting more), and the weekend manager is a nice guy. Be careful late at night, sometimes the cooks go home and then the menu suffers - but I guess they are trying to fix this problem.

Sam's Hollywood Billiards Portland, OR
Nice tables, down to earth atmosphere, and surprisingly tasty grub. It can get a bit smokey at night, but that's about the only bad thing. If you want to shoot some serious pool, but don't want to pay Uptown Billiards or Rialto prices, Sam's is the place to go.

Henry's 12th Street Tavern Portland, OR
Redeemed by the huge beer selection and ice bar - However, I usually leave regretting being so close to so many snobs. Maybe you can stomach the clientelle to get that beer you can't find anywhere else, but I find it a bit difficult. And, you get what you pay for - none of those beers are cheap.

Club 21 Portland, OR
A small smokey dive with okay greasy-spoon food. Don't be tricked by the huge neon "STEAKS" sign - they won't serve you a steak late at night so you can count out fulfilling your steak and beer at 1am fantasy.
