Happy Hours
Beer, Cocktails, Food:I love the Shanghi Tunnel. The food can sometimes be inconsistent but it's a dive bar. The Da Bomb, vegetarian black bean burger is excellent and for $4 is as big as your head. The nachos, flour torilla chips.... need I say more. The music is always good too. The drinks are strong and the bartenders always freindly. As for no local beers, I guess I never noticed so I guess it doesn't matter. Order a Pabstsmear.
14-Feb-07Historical tribute is cool, but the beer selection is composed intirely of lame imports and terrible domestics (think: coors or stella. ugh). I take issue with any bar in Portland that doesn't serve local microbrews. Your bar is in the city with the highest number of breweries per capita in the world! Show a little respect.
22-Jan-07This low key swillery pays tribute to Portland's seedy past with a majority of the establishment located underground. The tight qurters may add to the atmosphere, but can leave some feeling claustrophobic. As for the food and libations...pretty average beverage selection (although every now and again you may find a rare olympia stubby bottle). The food is simple, oriental-inspired pub fare including rice bowls and yakisoba...nothing extraordinary. Consider stopping in for a change of pace when tired of other posh bars in the neighborhood
