I wasn't sure what I thought of this place the first night I went, which I imagine is why I had to return there two consecutive nights in a row following my first experience. First of all, well drinks for only $3.00 during happy hour? $3.00 for a veggie dog with sauerkraut and chips and salsa?? What is the catch here??

Another problem with this place is that it is fun. Board games lie atop each table. So you can drink AND play your favorite board game simultaneously. What do they think they're trying to pull?!

The worst part is that the servers are friendly and accommodating.

I hope that after enjoying, er, I mean, tolerating three dreadful nights in a row at this bar, my opinion of it is clear.

In a City where most places cater to either Pearl goers or Portland hipsters, it is nice encounter a normal, laid back bar such as Bar Convivium that focus on good drinks and food without attitude. The staff was very friendly, the place is clean, non-smoking and there are plenty of good options on the menu for meat eaters and vegetarians. Other than the hard to remember name, loved it!

I stopped by Bar Convivium this evening for happy hour.. it's a great deal! I had two very good chicken tacos for a total of $2.25 along with a 25%-off beer. They also have board games placed throughout the bar, including Scrabble, chess, Chinese checkers, dominoes, Yahtzee, backgammon, and even a connect four set. Wednesday night is bingo night.
