If you have never seen what a good happy hour food menu looks like, this is a solid starting point. Branch out from here, but always a staple if you need the old standby.
For the volume of happy hour customers Jake's Grill undoubtedly receives because of its amazing food specials, the help here has always been friendly and attentive.

Jake's Grill is pretty cozy, w/ great food specials and the even though the drinks aren't on happy hour, they are very tasty. The mango white is a favorite. The bar can be rather smoky. The desserts are great as well. Try the dessert sampler.

This place is part of the McCormick & Schmick organization. The half-pound cheese burger is one of the best happy hour food deals in PDX. But the Ahi Tuna Roll for $2 is four tuna maki, not the large tempura roll for $4 at the M&S Harborside (Full Sail) brewpub location. The beer selection is just the usual suspects but Bridgeport IPA and Widmer Hef always seems better as draft.

Try Jake's Grill for excellent value in their happy hour menu. With warm weather coming think about dining outside. Great sites as well as food and drink. This is one of favorites HR or not!

Yes, Jake’s Grill has great food, and serves the finest martini in town--except of course, for the one I make at home. (My secret: almond-stuffed olives.)

Unfortunately, it does allow smoking, and that’s a big deterrent for a lot of people, myself included. Too bad: I’d visit Jake’s once and a while if my lungs weren’t under attack.

This Portland classic provides an upscale feel with dark wood, lots of brass fixtures, and high ceilings that create a spacious feeling for the medium sized space. Jake's Grill has one of the best value happy hour menus in the city including the highest quality burger and fries for under two dollars you will find anywhere. The happy hour menu includes an eclectic mix of seafood as well as more traditional pub fare. Jake's has a broad range of spirits ranging from Kentucky's finest to single malts and fresh fruit is used for many cocktails. Also note, Jake's Grill is one of a few bars in Portland that is cigar friendly (indicated by the wall mounted stag head with a cigar in its mouth) and of further note Rich's cigar store is conveniently located across the street (this may be a deterrent to visit for some and and added motivation to visit for others).
